It includes the websites you visit, emails you send, and information you submit to online services.’ (TechTerms, 2014). By merely creating this blog we have left a digital footprint. Consider all the research on the various sites and all the information gathered from online sources to complete the task, all this contributes to your digital footprint. Be responsible with your passwords. Do not divulge your personal information online. Be aware of cyber or online bullying, in an ever-increasing technology driven world this is fast becoming a crime in certain jurisdictions. According to an online article in The Conversation (2017), ‘it’s time to start thinking about our digital carbon footprint’. Adjusting your screen brightness, downloading instead of live streaming and by adjusting your power settings on your devices are ways to assist in reducing your carbon digital footprint.

(2019) describes social capital as ‘the interpersonal relationships, institutions, and other social assets of a society or group that can be used to gain advantage’. Facebook, Uber and Airbnb have harnessed this power to grow their companies’ images online. The convenience of being able to download an application where a taxi can collect you from a location and drop you off at your destination is a revolutionary advantage in commuting. Uber connects people to essential services via technology in the palm of your hand. In this country we currently face a high unemployment rate, Uber has helped to alleviate this by creating owner driver run businesses.
